Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in IT, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Japanese is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming (Fortran, Python, R preferred) and understanding of common research methodologies.
  • Experience: Prior involvement in high-performance computing projects is highly desirable. A background in meteorology, cloud microphysics, and aerosol physics will be considered a strong asset.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and progress management.

Compensation

  • Contract Duration: 1-year contract starting in April, with potential for extension depending on funding availability.
  • Salary: Competitive hourly rate ranging from ¥1,500 to ¥3,000, based on qualifications and experience. Work schedule includes 7 hours per day, approximately 7 days per month, with flexibility based on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining research software, including writing and debugging code.
  • Conducting literature reviews across various sources, including journal articles, books, and websites.
  • Analyzing data and drafting research reports.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, such as document translation and handling communications.

Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in candidates who are Japanese, and reside in the Kansai area, with exceptional English proficiency. The role is particularly suited for those keen on facilitating international collaboration within a research setting and have a strong interest in the fields of meteorology and computing.
